Helena Bonham Carter

 

Helena Bonham Carter, 26 Mayıs 1966’da, Golders Green, Londra’da dünyaya geldi. Babası, ünlü bir İngiliz siyaset ailesinden gelen, Raymond Bonham Carter, Helena henüz 10 yaşındayken rahatsızlanarak tekerlekli sandalyeye mahkum oldu.

Helena’nın oyunculuk dünyasına girmesi, 1979 yılında ulusal bir makale yarışmasında kazandığı parayla oyunculuk idaresi “Spotlight”a girmesiyle başladı. 16 yaşında bir televizyon reklamında oynadı. 1983 yılında ise, bir televizyon filmi olan “A Pattern of Roses”’da yer aldı. Göründüğü ilk sinema filmi, 1986’da gösterime giren, “Lady Jane” idi. Çıkış yaptığı performansı ise, “Lady Jane”den sonra çekilen ancak önce gösterime giren, “A Room with a View” adlı filmdeydi. Bu filmlerdeki performansı, kendisinin “korse kraliçesi” ve “İngiliz gülü” olarak, 20.yüzyıl öncesi ve sonrası konulu filmlerde aynı tarzda rollere aday gösterilmesini sağladı. Ancak sonunda yelpazesini genişleterek, “Fight Club” (1999), “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005), “Corpse Bride” (2005), “Big Fish” (2003) ve “Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” (2005) gibi son yılların ünlü filmlerinde başarılı birer profil çizdi. 2001 Ağustos’unda, ünlü dergi “Maxim”in özel konuğuydu.

Helena, 2006 Cannes Film Festivali'nde jüri üyeliği yaptı ve o yıl tartışmaya yol açacak bir şekilde, İrlanda yapımı olan “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” adlı film oybirliğiyle, en iyi film seçildi.

Bonham Carter, 2006 Şubat’ında çekimlerine başlanan “Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix” adlı filmde, hamileliği nedeniyle setten ayrılan Helen McCrory’nin yerine geçerek, Bellatrix Lestrange karakterini canlandıracak.

Özel hayatını konuşmaktan kaçınmasına rağmen Helena ile ilgili olarak bilinen gerçeklerden biri, 1994’ten 1999 yılına kadar, bir çok filmde beraber rol aldığı oyuncu, Kenneth Branagh ile bir ilişki yaşadığıydı. Sonrasında Steve Martin’le beraber olan aktris, 2001 Ekim’inden beri “Planet of the Apes”in çekimlerinde tanıştığı, ünlü yönetmen Tim Burton ile birlikte. Ünlü çiftin, 4 Ekim 2003 doğumlu Billy-Ray Burton adında bir de oğulları var.
